'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the thrilling final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative strike from outside the box, and his teammate promptly converted the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to celebrate, with fans congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an extraordinary recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win secured a fourth-round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that far out," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right defensive wing after the team changed shape. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way Orient approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can feel you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think many athletes would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without serious challenge. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his father, his father, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's single match for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was freezing," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it got to the point where I thought I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the transport team, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person out of the minibus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
